Practice Presence

Why is it so hard?

All of us have been influenced by a utilitarian and noisy culture which works against silence. Yet, each person is unique and has their own inner world to struggle with to gain peace. I aim to to give you food for contemplation so that you can better know yourself and the calm of being present.

What’s so powerful about sitting receptively and quietly?

Here are a variety of quotes about the practice of presence or - as some call it - mindfulness. There are many more I could have used - and these few may not meet your fancy - but may it be a nudge to explore. I hope that the following words will inspire you to “practice the presence of God,” to be open to others, and to live more fully.

Fulton Sheen

“The secret of happiness is to live moment by moment and to thank God for all that He, in His goodness, sends to us day after day.”

Gianna Molla

“We must rise up and value every instant of time that passes and is in our power. We must not waste a single moment.”

Padre Pio

“If I were to be responsible for guiding souls, I would urge everyone to be aware of God’s constant presence, if for no other reason than His presence is a delight to our souls and spirit.”
